Generally, a full car wrap installation takes about a day. However, we recommend leaving your car in the shop for another day to help ensure proper adhesion of the film to the car has been achieved. Yes. When removed within the 3M warranty period, they are guaranteed to remove cleanly. If any residue remains, it is easily cleaned off. Professional removal by a 3M Authorised installer is recommended.

Removal within the wraps warranty period is very unlikely to cause any damage. Areas that have been covered by the wrap material may in fact appear more vibrant and glossier having been protected from the elements by the wrap. However, poorly cured resprays are more vulnerable so always consult the installer if you have had a respray. Professional removal by a 3M Authorised installer is recommended.

Certainly, yes. In fact some of the most unique and interesting wraps have been just doing detailing like the roof, hood/bonnet, wing mirrors or front grill. It’s a great way to personalise your car without going to the expense of a full wrap. Get inspired.

Fingerprints may appear more visible on matte finish films, but they can be easily removed. Clean the affected area using a clean, lint-free microfiber towel dampened with a mixture of 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and 30% water. Gently wipe the surface, then dry it with a separate clean towel to restore the film’s original appearance.

For best results, wash your vehicle using a neutral pH automotive shampoo and a soft, clean sponge or cloth. Avoid cleaning with strongly alkaline, acidic, or high-alcohol cleaning agents, as these can permanently damage the film’s surface.

Do not use abrasive pads, brushes, or harsh scrubbing tools, since they may cause scratches or dull the film finish. Always rinse thoroughly and dry the surface with a clean microfiber towel after washing.

After film installation, wait one week before waxing your vehicle to help ensure the car protective film has built the proper level of adhesion. No special maintenance is required, but 3M recommends the following products for users who wish to wax their 3M™ Protection Wrap Film:
 

• 3M™ Perfect-It™ Show Car Paste Wax (PN39526) can be applied after film installation. Users should then regularly wash and recoat the surface going forward.
• Alternatively, 3M™ Ceramic Coating or 3M™ Ceramic Boost can applied be for additional hydrophobicity, stain resistance, and easy clean features.
• Do NOT use waxes containing dyes, abrasive polishes, and/or rubbing compounds. The abrasive particles will damage the film surface and result in a loss of surface quality. Users can remove any wax build-up along film edges with a lint-free cloth. Visit www.3M.com/automotive to order 3M’s car wash soap, waxes, polishes and high-performance detailing cloths.

• Do NOT wash the vehicle until 72 hours after installation. Hand wash the vehicle whenever possible. If it must go through a car wash, choose a touchless option as brush car washes may dull and scratch the film as well as lift the edge of the film. Loose film could tear away from a moving vehicle. After washing, check the entire film installation carefully for edge lifting. Return to the installer to repair, remove, or replace damaged film

Yes, but 3M recommends hand washing whenever possible. If a pressure washer is to be used, there are strict guidelines that need to be followed. Aggressive washing can damage the car protective film, with excessive pressure forcing water underneath the film, weakening the adhesive’s bond to the paint surface, causing the film to lift or curl. These problems are magnified by wind. To avoid edge lifting or other damage to the film:
 

• Use a spray nozzle with a minimum 40 degree or wider spray pattern.
• Ensure the spray nozzle includes a nozzle protector (tip guard).
• Use a maximum pressure of 1,200 psi (80 bar).
• If the system is heated, limit the water temperature to 140°F (60°C) or less.
• Hold the nozzle at least 12 in. (30 cm) away from and perpendicular (90 degrees +/- 10) to the film, or a minimum of 39 in. (1 m) away from the film at a 60º angle, or higher.
• Do NOT direct the water stream at between 0° to 60° relative to the edge of the film

To help prevent hard water spots or chlorine stains on your car protection wrap, wash and dry your vehicle in a shaded or covered area away from direct sunlight. Dry the surface immediately after washing using a clean microfiber towel to avoid water evaporation marks. Applying a thin layer of liquid wax or sealant after cleaning can also help protect the film surface and reduce the chance of spotting.
