3Mers and alumni volunteer their time, talents and expertise to improve lives in their communities. Thousands of 3Mers participate through 3Mgives volunteer programs, mentoring students and youth, serving on nonprofit boards and helping people in need around the world.
Annually, 3M honors volunteers from around the globe who positively impact the lives of others in extraordinary ways. Honorees number 572 to-date. Nominations for the 2016 30th anniversary awards are open through June 3.
The 3Mgives Volunteer Match donates to organizations where 3Mers and alumni volunteer their time. Since 2000, 3Mgives has provided more than $5.7 million on behalf of nearly 26,000 volunteers to 3,000 organizations in 50 states.

3M Legal Affairs strongly supports pro bono service as a unique community service opportunity for legal professionals. By leveraging skills and experience, 3M Legal Affairs helps strengthen both the community and the justice system.
For 20 years, 3M volunteers have stuffed and distributed new school supplies for Saint Paul Public School students. In 2015, hundreds of 3M volunteers gathered at Kids In Need in Roseville, Minn., to pack bags for 18,000 students at 36 schools. Every student in those schools received tools needed for a successful year.
3M Austin, Texas employees conduct an annual drive to collect new and gently used children’s books for Booksprings’s ReBook program. Volunteers then sort the books for distribution to pediatric clinics, schools and other organizations serving children and families in need.
