Alfred Health goes live with 3M™ 360 Encompass™ System

Melbourne’s Alfred Health, went live on the 3M 360 Encompass System across all of its facilities in late February. This milestone marks the first implementation of 3M’s integrated clinical coding solutions platform in Australia and represents a significant step towards revolutionising clinical coding and clinical documentation integrity workflows embracing the benefits of computer assisted coding.

Alfred Health are now able to leverage this new technology to track, monitor and analyse their impact in the end-to-end process from clinical documentation improvement through clinical coding and onto post coding data quality. These new workflow tools are seamlessly integrated into one solution which now brings the medical record directly into the coding platform. 360 Encompass leverages 3M’s natural language understanding and processing technology and interfaces with Alfred Health’s patient administration system from Dedalus as well as their electronic medical record from Oracle Cerner.

At the heart of 3M 360 Encompass System remains 3M™ Codefinder™, a widely used and trusted clinical coding solution that incorporates the current Australian ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS coding content, rules, and functionality. Developed over the past 30 years in collaboration with customers, this coding system reflects the expertise and experience gathered from over 5,000 healthcare organisations worldwide.

As an integral part of the project, 3M™ Business Process Advisory Service played a crucial role in redesigning processes, managing changes, and providing recommendations to enhance workflows within existing HIM, quality, and CDI teams. 3M acknowledges that the achievements of this project would not have been possible without the exceptional team and leadership from Alfred Health.
