Global Supplier Responsibility Code

The 3M Supplier Responsibility Code (PDF, 6 MB) (SRC) establishes our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements for suppliers anywhere in the world and for any supplied material or service. 

The SRC is based on our corporate values for sustainable and responsible operations and aligns with the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact, which we participate in. This SRC 4.0 is effective as of July 1, 2024 and is aligned with the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Code of Conduct 8.0. 

The 3M Supplier Responsibility Code consists of 5 main sections:

1. Labor – specific requirements and controls for the elimination of forced labor, and more details on appropriate working hours, time off and workers’ rights.  
2. Health & Safety – specific requirements for a safe and healthy workplace, emergency exits, fire protection, worker housing (when provided), etc. 
3. Environment – specific requirements on environmentally responsible operations, by identifying environmental impacts and minimizing effects on the community, environment, and natural resources. 
4. Ethics – aligned with 3M’s Code of Conduct (PDF, 58 KB) requirements on anti-bribery, conflicts of interest, protection of intellectual property, and related Business Conduct issues.
5. Management Systems – specific requirements for a supplier’s own due diligence management system including strong policies and systems to control the aspects in the previous sections and propagate the requirements up the supply chain. 

We require our suppliers to read, understand, and implement the requirements of the SRC. The Supplier Responsibility Code Introduction Presentation (PDF, 1 MB) provides an overview of the many important concepts in the SRC and is a helpful resource for suppliers and their suppliers to understand 3M’s environmental and social compliance requirements.
